About Me
S. Taggart
I am currently a freshman business major at Texas Christian University. Prior to moving to Fort Worth, TX, I lived in Nagoya, Japan for the entirety of my high school career. It was honestly the most rewarding experience of my life. I learned more about myself and the Japanese culture then I ever could have imagined. This fostered an inherent desire to travel, which is now one of my favorite hobbies. I traveled all over Southeast Asia, and now that I am back in the United States, I am starting to tackle my own beautiful country. I also truly enjoy reading, especially historical fiction. In high school, I read many books about global history because I went to an international school. Despite my large personal library, To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee remains one of my all-time favorites. Set in the 1960s, this led to a natural curiosity about the turbulent decade. Therefore, this English Composition II class, focused on analyzing the 1960s, could not have been a more perfect fit. As this class comes to an end, I cannot help but reflect on the major impact this era had on contemporary society. Just in my brief analyses of song, music, and major event, I can easily see how significantly the 1960s society and culture permeated into modern life. I believe it is crucial to explore and understand our country's past because, ultimately, it gives us useful insight to the present.
